So, after watching the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, who has 100% more motivation to hit the gym?! (For sure, me! Hands down!) I have recently read a few articles bashing the show. Some believe shows like these diminish self-esteem by glorifying an “ideal image” in women. I couldn’t disagree more. In fact, such shows motivate me. It’s easy to get irrationally jealous while watching supermodels strut their stuff, but why not simply enjoy the show & appreciate the hard work of the designers, the musicians, and the models. Love yourself & be confident in your own body. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to indulge in a bit of self-improvement. This can be done without self-loathing and “body shaming” ourselves. If a show like this spurs me to hit the gym and pass on that second dessert, so what? Nothing wrong with this. We should take our motivation wherever we can find it. We should be able to enjoy a fashion show, maintain our self-esteem and a positive body image, while still getting enthused about hitting the gym a bit harder. Props to the models! They work hard in an incredibly competitive field. It’s work, and yet they make it look effortless.
Now, after my EXTREMELY off topic spiel, let’s talk this outfit. If only I could have this shirt in all colors! It is the epitome of preppy & classy, & it’s totally timeless! I own a few solid-color oxfords, & they come in handy. I throw them on under a sweater to give my look little more pizzazz. Or, in this outfit, I put my fave vest over it. To make an oxford shirt a little more formal, wear it with a blazer & jeans or tuck it into a skirt.
My lace-up shoes have been a serious staple in my wardrobe. I’ve never been a “flats” person, but these shoes give flats a whole new dimension. (Yes, I have them in two other colors. Once I find something I really like, I tend to over buy. . . lol). But, if you have wide feet, these are the perf shoes. You can pretty much decide how tight you want the shoe to lay.
Enjoy the rest of your night & make sure to follow my blog so you never miss a post!
